Mt Edgcumbe

Mt Edgcumbe House and Country park is jointly owned by Plymouth City Council and Cornwall County Council. With an area of 865 acres, it is located on the Rame Peninsular in South East Cornwall.

The gardens are home to one of five National Collections of Camellias in the UK, all but one of which are in Cornwall. Not restricted to any part of the genus, it is the largest collection with around 865 taxa planted out. The aim is to get to 1000 taxa and to this end a number of varieties are being grown on in pots to a suitable planting size.

Access to the park is free although there is a charge for parking. All of the collection is accessible though much of it is planted on steep and slippery slopes so is not always easy to see up close.
