    • The only honest answer I can give you is that I don’t know. The two plants I am most familiar with are growing in full shade and would be much better for having better light. I know of another that is in part shade and it is much more compact and much freer flowering for getting more light. But full sun in Cornwall, UK, is not the same as full sun where you are I would guess. We have a very maritime climate which irons out the highs and lows and generally gives us rain throughout the year. Except for a handful that tend to go yellow, most camellias will stand full sun here provided they are not put under stress by getting too dry, which is not just about rainfall, it also hinges on how many other root systems are tapping water from the same area of soil. That will be true for you too. The best guide is whether other japonica type camellias are growing happily in full sun in your area. I have no reason to think ‘Happy Higo’ would behave very differently from most other japonicas.
